The characterizations are effective and the film is anything if not impacting. I hate to seem like I'm complaining about this film because, all in all, I actually though it was a pretty good movie. Ultimately, "Everest" is an achievement of production, capturing the landscape in striking IMAX cinematography. In the morning, Beck miraculously awakens, sees that Yasuko is dead, and stumbles down to camp alone, severely frostbitten and in need of medical help. What is the joke Rob is making that has everyone laughing. What I do think the film could've done a better job at is showing the effect these mountaineers desires have on their loved ones. I think part of this speaks to the film's authenticity and the wish to give everyone their due, but there is certainly some validity to it.
