First published in 1969 the story won the Hugo Short Story award that year, while the collection itself contains such famous Ellison tales as “A boy and his dog” along with one of my favourites "Try a Dull Knife". These seem to be another selection of Harlan Ellison stories that do not seem to have held up to time. I would recommend this book even if the only worthwhile story was "A Boy And His Dog", but luckily every single story is a treat to read. Ellison was My Guy, and this was one his best collections.
Signed.Avon, 1969. his just completely insane but highly entertaining.A lot of the short stories in the book feel like filler. At the same time, he and his stories came out of American science fiction and show the conventions and devices of science fiction in every paragraph.
