The acting is dreadful. The BBC can do, and has done better.I suppose I shouldn't have watched this straight after watching The Fall, but I doubt that would have made much difference to my appreciation of this short series. But Hare, whose work has always had a polemicist strain, paints only in black and white.By centering this story around all of these totemic societal institutions, Collateral is taking a broad view of all of these key political, legal, and religious pillars, which are subject to the individuals who comprise them.For all its faults, Collateral remained gripping to the end.With a set-up this tantalising, what a shame it would be if Collateral's script doesn't settle down.I really, really hope that, down the line, the plot demands she vault over a five-metre wall to bag the baddie.
